Uploading content to SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive

Apply harmon.ie to upload these to SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive:

  • Documents.
  • Folders.
  • Electronic mail messages.
  • Outlook items: appointments, meetings, contacts, tasks, and posts.
  • Outlook folders.

You lot can upload content using one of these methods:

  • Elevate and drop
  • Upload icon

To drag and drib items to SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive:

  1. Discover the location to which y'all want to upload the documents.
  2. Drag and drib document(due south), binder(southward), email message(s), or Outlook folder(s) from your computer, or from Outlook, to:
    • A SharePoint site, document library, or folder, to upload them to this location.
    • A SharePoint certificate, to replace it with the uploaded document.
    • A SharePoint list item, to upload as item attachments.
    • A SharePoint group header, to upload and acquaintance the item with that group.
    • A Teams location or binder.
      Note: If you drag an item to a Teams location without specifying the folder, it is saved in the Teams location'south default folder.
    • A OneDrive binder.
  3. Monitor the drag and drop process.
  4. If prompted, select a content type.
  5. If the Backdrop window opens, make full in the required properties, and then click Save.
  6. If prompted, check in the document, to make it bachelor to all users.

To upload items to SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive using the Upload icon:

  1. Notice the location to which y'all want to upload the documents.
  2. Apply the Upload icon (The Upload icon) in the toolbar and select the certificate(s) and/or folder(s) you desire to upload. Click Open.
  3. Monitor the upload process.
  4. If prompted, select a content type.
  5. If the Backdrop window opens, make full in the required backdrop, then click Salve.
  6. If prompted, cheque in the document, to make information technology bachelor to all users.

Notes and limitations:

  • The upload process of folders is recursive: the contained items and sub-folders are uploaded.
  • The drag-and-drop process of Commutation public folders may be extremely slow since items are downloaded individually from the Exchange server, and bandwidth for public folders may be limited past the server.
  • Due to an Outlook limitation, it is not possible to upload folders that include characters which do not match your machine locale.

To monitor and stop the upload/elevate and drop process:

When item(s) are being uploaded, you can monitor the progress in the progress bar, which appears at the bottom of the harmon.ie sidebar. From here you tin can see the name of the current item being uploaded and the condition of the upload. To end the current upload procedure, click the Cancel Operation icon (The Cancel Operation icon) in the progress bar.

To select a content type:

When uploading/dragging and dropping document(s) to a certificate library with multiple content types, by default, the document(s) receive the default content blazon. You can configure harmon.ie to prompt you to select a document content type. In this case, a list of the bachelor content types opens. Select the content type and click OK. The selected content blazon applies to all the uploaded/dragged and dropped items.

To set document backdrop:

In the post-obit cases uploaded/dragged and dropped documents are checked out (and not visible to other users) and the Properties window opens:

  • If a certificate library is configured with required backdrop that exercise not take a default value.
  • If column validation is defined and the validation fails.
  • If the Properties window was configured to be opened on every upload, to remind yous to fill in the certificate backdrop, whether they are required or optional.

Edit the required properties and/or validate the values, and then click Save.

To check in uploaded/dragged and dropped documents:

When you upload/drag and drop documents to document libraries that require checking out documents earlier editing, the uploaded documents are automatically checked out. These documents are not visible to other SharePoint users until checked in. harmon.ie prompts yous to check in the documents to make them available to other users.

  • Click Yes to check in all uploaded/dragged and dropped documents and make them available to other SharePoint users.
  • Click No to leave the documents checked out and hidden from other users.
  • Check Call back my choice, if you do not want to be prompted to bank check in documents on upload/elevate and drop. Your answer is applied to time to come uploads/drags and drops, with documents ever checked in automatically (if Yes was selected), or e'er left checked out (if No was selected).
  • You can configure whether yous want harmon.ie to prompt yous to check in documents.

Notes:

  • The Check In setting is global for all SharePoint sites.
  • This setting also applies to scenarios where documents would be left checked out after editing document metadata.

To add new versions or supercede existing documents:

Y'all tin can supplant existing document(s) (when uploading/dragging and dropping to libraries with no versioning support), or add new versions to the document(s) (when uploading/dragging and dropping to libraries with versioning back up) by uploading/dragging and dropping the document(s) to SharePoint once more.

You can replace a document, or add together a new version, fifty-fifty when the document name has changed.

To add together new version(s) or replace document(southward) with document(due south) with the aforementioned name(s):

  • When uploading/dragging and dropping to a document library with versioning support:
    1. Upload the certificate(s) using the Upload icon (The Upload icon) or using drag and drib to the library.
    2. A dialog prompts you to add a new version to the existing document:
      Cheque Add together as a new version to existing document(south) to add together the uploaded/dragged and dropped document(s) as new version(s) to the existing document(s). The contents of the new document(due south) are updated, while document metadata and history are preserved.
      Uncheck to rename the uploaded/dragged and dropped document(s). In this case, a running count is appended to the document names (for example findingpeople.doc, findingpeople (2).doc, findingpeople (3).physician, etc).
    3. Click OK to proceed or Cancel to cancel the upload/elevate and driblet operation.
      When uploading/dragging and dropping multiple documents: Click Skip to skip the upload/elevate and drop of the current document that already exists in SharePoint. Bank check Apply to All to use the selected action to all uploaded/dragged and dropped documents.

    Right-click the certificate and select Add New Version, then browse to and select the document you desire to add.
  • When uploading/dragging and dropping to a document library with no versioning support:
    1. Upload the certificate(due south) using the Upload icon (The Upload icon) or using drag and drop to the library.
    2. A dialog prompts you to overwrite the existing document(s):
      Cheque Overwrite existing certificate(s) to replace the document(s) with new ane(s).
      Uncheck to rename the new document(southward). In this case, a running count is appended to the document names (for example findingpeople.doctor, findingpeople (two).dr., findingpeople (3).medico, etc).
    3. Click OK to go along or Canel to cancel the upload/drag and driblet operation.
      When uploading/dragginga nd dropping multiple documents: Click Skip to skip the upload of the current document that already exists in SharePoint. Check Apply to All to apply the selected action to all uploaded/dragged and dropped documents.

Note: Metadata in documents for any of the Office 2007 formats (.docx, .xlsx and .pptx) overwrites existing SharePoint properties.

To add a new version or replace a certificate with a document with another name:

Use this method in this scenario: you uploaded/dragged and dropped a document to SharePoint and sent information technology to someone outside of your visitor for review. This person returns the revised certificate to you lot with another proper name or with a newer Office extension (for example .docx instead of .doctor). To replace the original certificate and to preserve the original name, or to upgrade the certificate version:

  • When uploading to a certificate library with versioning support:
    1. Drag the document onto the certificate you want to overwrite and concur for two seconds. A tooltip displays: Add as a new version to <document name>.
      Drag and hold a document on top of the document you want to replace.
    2. Driblet the document. The new document is renamed to the existing document proper name on which you dragged this document, and added equally a new version of that document.
    - or -
    Correct-click the document and select Add New Version, and so scan to and select the document you desire to add.
  • When uploading to a document library with no versioning back up:
    1. Drag the document onto the certificate you want to overwrite and hold for two seconds. A tooltip displays: Overwrite <document name>.
    2. Driblet the document. You are asked if y'all want to overwrite the existing document. If you click OK, the new certificate is renamed to the existing document on which yous dragged this certificate, and replaces that document.

Notes:

  • You can supervene upon a document using this method, if both the existing and new documents have the aforementioned file type.
  • The characteristic of replacing a document with a document of a newer Office format (for example .docx instead of .md) must be enabled by your ambassador.
  • When upgrading the Office version, harmon.ie adds a comment to the document indicating the extension change.
  • To restore a version to its old extension, follow the directions nether restoring an old version.

To upload to a grouped location:

When Group By is divers for a view, harmon.ie groups the SharePoint items by category.

When y'all drag-and-driblet items onto the grouping header, the items are uploaded to the location and the header value is assigned to the property.

Example: To assign Nomenclature to Classified, drag the item and drop it on the Classification : Classifed group header.
